A quiet room for the parts unspoken.
Psychotherapy for people dealing with anxiety, identity, inheritance and change — online, worldwide, and held with cultural care.
About
Meet Yumna Mohamed
I work through a decolonial lens. I believe that we are more than what happens to us — we are shaped by where we come from, what holds us and what was never said.
I’m a culturally-informed, integrative psychotherapist with five years’ experience supporting people through the challenges of modern life. Together, we explore how your relationships, family history, culture and experiences impact your emotional wellbeing, while addressing concerns such as anxiety, depression, addiction and grief.
Trained in psychodynamic psychotherapy, my approach combines evidence-based therapeutic frameworks to provide immediate support and long term exploration. With deep respect for your personal experience, I hope to create a safe, collaborative space where healing, self-understanding and lasting personal growth can unfold at your own pace.

Therapeutic Approach
A practice of meaning, not management.
Psychodynamic therapy is less about fixing and more about understanding. As understanding deepens, choice returns — and with choice comes relief.
Understanding Your Past
Your past informs your present. Early relationships and formative experiences leave patterns that live on in how you love, work and protect yourself. We trace them gently, without blame.
Context and Belonging
Your place in family, society, history and the world contributes to wellbeing. Culture, faith, migration and inherited experiences are not background detail — they are part of the story.
Empowerment and Autonomy
Therapy is built on mutual respect, safety and empowerment. You remain the author of your life. My role is to think alongside you, not to prescribe how you should live it.

FAQs
Questions, answered
If something you need to know isn’t here, you are welcome to ask directly.
What is psychodynamic psychotherapy?
It is a way of working that pays attention to what lies beneath the surface — early relationships, unconscious patterns and the meaning held inside symptoms. Rather than offering techniques to manage distress, it helps you understand where the distress comes from, so that change can be lasting rather than temporary.
How long will I need therapy?
That depends on what you bring. Some people come for a focused piece of work over several months; others stay for a year or longer as things unfold. We review together as we go and you are never committed beyond the next session.
What happens in the first session?
The first meeting is a conversation. You tell me what has brought you, I ask questions about your history and what you hope for and we both consider whether this way of working feels right. There is no obligation to continue.
Do you work online or in person?
I work online with clients internationally, using a secure video platform. Online therapy is well evidenced and for many people, makes consistent weekly work far more possible.
Is what I say confidential?
Yes. Everything discussed is confidential, with the limited exceptions required by law and professional ethics — chiefly a risk of serious harm to yourself or someone else. I also discuss my work in anonymised form with a clinical supervisor, as all registered therapists must.
Will you understand my cultural or religious background?
Culture, faith, race and migration are central to my thinking rather than a footnote. You will not have to explain or defend where you come from, and you will not be asked to leave any part of your identity outside the room.
What if I have never been to therapy before?
That is very common, and no preparation is needed. You do not have to arrive with a clear account of the problem — often the shape of it becomes visible only once we begin talking.
How do I get started?
Send an enquiry through the contact form, or complete the consultation questionnaire for a fuller picture. I usually reply within two working days with available times.
